Almost finished another E-LST... (Pics)

It's a stock LST truck with the center plate cut out to except a modded Emaxx Chassis. I had to sand down the chassis to allow the center CVD's to line up. I wasn't sure it was going to work but it turned out great. I also had to file down the center skid plate a little. But it fits like stock and I can use the brace still. I also used the battery holders from a left over gorillamaxx chassis. Tranny is an Emaxx gorillamaxx single speed conversion with a steel idler installed. I also need the gorilla motor mount to center the motor above the tranny. The drive cups from the Traxxas CVD's fit perfectly, part #5153. Motor is a XLT1 from Fine Design with HV heatsink.

I can't decide if I want to mount the radio on the chassis or reuse the battery/radio box from the LST. I wanted to check the weight also and was pleased that it wasn't over 14lbs. It weighed 13, 10oz. with 2 6000mah lipos but that was also adding the Proline rim and big Joe tire I had to use to rest it on. The big joe weighed 14oz. alone. So a 12lb 12oz truck this size ain't that bad. All I need now it a ESC to power this bad boy, any suggestions? I wish the MMM would hurry up and come out.

Dang, 13lbs 10oz.... put that thing on a diet of some sort.

I am not sure, but I was hearing that the XLT1 is actually a 6XL motor, which would be a very hot setup, heat wise, and power wise. I might suffer in that big truck you have there. But just get it running and report back how it runs.

Looks awesome though! Thumbs up!

I figured I'd give the XLT1 a try since that's what's in FineDesign's LST2. It got good reviews from RC Car Action. Actually 13lbs. 10oz is with the extra big joe tire w/rim centering the truck on the scale.

It probably weighs about 12lb 11oz. As for the over the tranny motor mount, nobody seems to make one. i was looking for something like this:

I guess I can make one. I'll try and fab something up this weekend.

That motor mount is the original Gmaxx motor mount. They dont make them any more but send Mike a email. He might still have one sitting around somewhere. Inly problem you would have ismounting it to the lst chassis. It is specifically designed to mount to the rails on a gmaxx chassis.

Another option might be the new emaxx transmision when it is released. It has a optional singgle motor mount the puts the motor abouve the tranny on center.

bluonyx, that is the first generation GorillaMaxx motor mount. It is, unfortunately, no longer produced. However, I'm sure one could be somewhat easily fabricated.

I just have to say that is a SWEET looking setup. I always liked and respected the design of the LST2, I hope someday to get one (nitro or electric). Unfortunately I don't have the time to run all of the trucks I do have.

I hear ya on not having enough time. I had to finish this project during nights and the wife was getting a little PO'd because I'd be in the garage till midnight. I was going to sell one of my other trucks to fund this one but as you all know. We always regret selling one of our rides later. We're all a bunch of RC whores!:mdr:

Bluonyx, thats one sweet little tranny. O and by the way the truck is kinda cool too!

Getter Robo 10.25.2007 11:25 AM

That looks pretty cool, way cleaner built than mine :)

I find that truck a tad heavy aswell since mine (LST2 built from scratch, some fiberglass braces) weighs 12,34 pounds (5,6 kg) loaded with batteries and body.

I can't wait for the 540C 8XL to arrive since the small maxximum is a tad too small for this truck.
How much does a LST1 shock weigh? I've heard it's 200+ grams which I can't believe since the LST2 shocks weigh 105 grams.

dude, those photos make me drool! since i sold my SM, i'm trying to decide among 3 trucks: the new emaxx, an e-revo, or build an e-LST2. i'm having a titanium chassis made for the LST2 that'll accept an emaxx tranny (maybe modify it so it'll take the new one), so the LST2 is a for-sure thing, but may be a longer build. maybe i'll just have to get all 3, eventually...

really sweet truck bro - you did a great job.

heres that motor mount, I took the best pics I could. I think it may be tall enough to mount above the reciever box, you could then mount the batteries behind the tranny, pull off the g-maxx holders and lose some weight, its here if you want it.................

bluonyx 10.27.2007 12:54 AM

I went out and did a little measuring and it should clear the radio box with no problems. Got 1/2" to spare. I'll try it a few times with the g-maxx holders, if it doesn't work out then I'll buy the holder that finedesign has. Sending you a PM. Thanks!
