New Castle Brushless ESC Sidewinder $84.99
|
Looks like they'll have it for $85 just for the ESC (your link was with a 4600 combo), or bundled with the 4600 or 5700 motors for $150. Not bad for a budget system.

No solid specs yet, just speculation so far. I heard that it will be about 2/3rd the capability of the MM so around 75-80amp capacity, and it will have all of the pc progamability, just thru a castle link instead of a direct usb connection. Wonder if it will handle 4s like the mm? Do you think that they will use a different spec fet? Its not like castle need cheaper stuff, they are already the price leader, but it looks like a good esc for 10th 2wd or touring cars. I doubt that it will compete with the quark 65-80, as they are more expensive than the mm and can handle 5-6s.

I would say that if it handles 4s, then they'll probably use the same FETs as the MM, just fewer of them. It's probably cheaper for them to do it that way since they already have those in bulk for the MM.
TBH: 75A is plenty for a 2wd 1/10 scale vehicle. 75A and 14.8v is over 1100w! Seeing as how most 1/10 scale 2wd vehicles are ~4lb, that should be PLENTY! But, I'm sure people will try to stuff one of these in a 15lb Savage on 5s and a 6XL motor because it's cheap, and then complain when it doesn't work right or blows up. |
It'll be rated for 2S on the 5700, and 3S on the 4600. That will still give you some very good budget fun-factor, that's for sure. 4600Kv on 3S is 50K+ RPM, and nothing to sneeze at!

If it can handle 4s, I'm thinking it'd work great in my MT2 with 4s2p A123 and the Feigao 540C 9L I recently reconditioned... Or the CRT.5 with a Neu 1509/1Y (3600 kv) and 3s 4000mah 20C Lipo.
