Ahhhhh

Need help people!
my Ronbinson Racing 12t 32p pitch pinion got stuck on my HV-maxx

how to i take this out???

tomato 07.07.2005 08:39 PM

A little bit of heat. Althought the motor doesn't like heat. A little bit of prying. Although the shaft won't like it, be as gentle as you can.

You didn't red locktite it on did you?

Shadow350Z 07.08.2005 12:23 AM

nope
i didnt put anything on it jus the setscrew

Shadow350Z 07.08.2005 01:14 AM

the set screw is not the one that is keeping me to take off the pinion its the pinion i think
anybody had a problem with a robinson racing pinion b4?

squeeforever 07.08.2005 01:23 AM

never had a problem. heat it up with a hairdryer or a heatgun and it should come right off. if it wont come off just get a real brushless setup. :L:

Shadow350Z 07.08.2005 12:28 PM

ok why would i waste 270$$??

Don't hold it over the motor for 10 hours. Just long enough to heat it up, so you can get your pinion off. Your not going to waste the motor. You could always pry it off, but you run a chance of bending the shaft. You can buy a new shaft if you need to. I suppose if they make a small enough gear puller you might be able to it that way. I don't know. I got one stuck and I just pryed it off with a screw driver. Yes, I did it slowly. I really doubt it's stuck that bad. You might just need a little pressure on it.

I'm just a guest here.

this has happened to me on numerous occasions. I find that it you just stick with it, and keep trying to move the pinion back and forth it will eventually come off.....good luck! ;)

i took it to my LHS and they said I abused my HV
thats why it got stuck
what the hell I dont even get my motor up to top speed
when they took the pinion off for me i saw the problem
My motor shaft expanded

RC-Monster Mike 07.08.2005 09:21 PM

Motor shaft expanded!? Never heard of this.

Shadow350Z 07.08.2005 09:36 PM

like my shaft got bigger
i had to grind my shaft down to make the pinions fit again

tomato 07.08.2005 11:25 PM

I don't know what to say.

Shadow350Z 07.09.2005 03:34 AM

well it happened to me

is this a first?

Ironicly mine got stuck on today also. I tried pushing and pulling to no avail. I pried it to the oint I felt comfortable but, it wouldn't budge. I finally got smart. I took out the grub screw, threw in a fresh set of gp33's and hit the trigger. It made it about 4 feet before I sent the pinion flying out. I picked up the pinion , put it away and proceded to install the other one. Just remember to remove the grub screw and they don't stand a chance of staying on the shaft!

Interesting technique, tomato! :)
If it works, it is a good way to git r done!
