pinion 4mm
hello, I seek which manufacture pinion 32p 13T or 12T with a hole of 4mm? thank you
(for lehner XL3600) |
Well, when it comes to enlarging the holes of the pinion gears, I simply take them to people who use heavy, large lathe machines and they successfully made the whole from 3mm to 4mm. If you want pinions that are made with 4mm in mind, then I think Mike or the others can help you.
By the way, these motors are 1/8" inch shaft as far as I know. Check that again.
the XL exists in 1/8" and 4mm, I have an axis of 4mm.
True. The 1/8" shafts on the Lehners are really just lathe'd down 4mm shafts.
I think Mike can help you finding pinions, taz. |
I know that there are adaptors out there, that would make a 5 mm pinion fit a 4 mm shaft.. Quite simple actually.. And if you knew someone with a machineshop/lathe, you could have a 3,2 mm pinion made bigger.
Agree, boring out a pinion to 4mm should work. 5mm won't, in most (my :o ) cases.
It helps to have a beefy 1/8 pinion, though. |
Yes. All of my pinions were enlarged from 3,2 to 4mm by those who work in lathe shops. However, there is someone named Chris Fine of FineDesignrc.com that sells 4mm bore pinions( they're Robinson pinions actually went through lathe procedure). They are priced $8-$9 each and your're going to pay extra money for shipping and tax, too. It isn't worth it if you ask me. Take a normal 32p pinion and enlarge the bore in a regular machineshop for few cents.
Chris bores his pinions with a drill press - not a lathe. FYI.
Well, that makes the whole thing even worse.:L:
I bought 3 of fine designs pinions, i stripped all 3 in one night. I would not buy his pinions again. They are no good, if you want a good pinion either buy from mike or jamie at starluck.
you had plastic pinions perhaps?
No kidding, that is a petty, to waste pinions that fast. To get a pinion bored out propperly you need a lathe, otherwise the hole gets off centre pretty easy.. |
AT $10.00 bucks a pop plus shipping it sure is. I learned my lesson.
The hole was centerd but there no meat around the set screw. |
Starluck has some good quality 5mm bore pinions and Mike has them as well, but I dont know if either of them has any 4mm pinions. Still, if you have some pinions which are 3,2 mm bore then you can take them to a lathe shop and enlarge the bore to 4mm.
hello, thank you all. I already tried to increase the hole with a drill press but the hole was eccentric. I will test with a turn.
