Will Traxxas 3.3 steel CVDs fit Unlimited Diff-Cups?
Hallo!
I cannot get some Unlimited CVDs for my Maxx at the moment so i want to use the Traxxas 3.3 steel CVDs which i can get within three days. On the pictures you find on the net you cannot see whether the CVDs will fit the Unlimited 7.5 Diff Outcups. Will the traxxas CVDs fit directly to the UE Diff 7,5er Outcup? Thanks for some help. BTW: What about the Tsai CVDs for the Maxx? Are they good or not? If the traxxas won´t fit i will use tsais i think. Marc. |
why can't you get UE cvd's? they're the best, IMHO. both 6mm and 8mm are in stock, too. unless you're outside the US.
i only have experience with stock sliders, MIP cvds (junk) and UE 8mm cvds. can't comment on either of the 2 you mention. they should fit, however. |

So i wanted to get some CVDs quick here in Germany. Why do you you think that MIPs are junk? I have no experience with them... Marc. |
MIP's are good cvd's.
With the 3.3 cvd's you would need different knuckles and turnbuckles, and i can't guarantee you they are long enough to fit 1/8th diffs. |
the tsai cvds dont work with the ue cups. the 3.3 mip cvds are good quality and they are beefier than the 2.5 ones. i have never heard of people having problems with the new 3.3 mip cvds. they should work with the cups because the ball part is slightly smaller. (but i am not 100 percent sure)

i had the 2.5 MIPs. the centers were total garbage - the pin wouldn't stay in to save my life, and when they flew out they caused massive carnage to the rest of the truck (very high rpm's, hot metal pin, and plastic don't mix well). the wheel cvd's... i never had a problem with them, but they wore much more than they should've in the year i had them. the UE's cost only a few dollars more too, and are 10 times better quality.
just my 2 cents. |

but if i understand correctly, the 3.3 mip cvds will _not_ fit into the original maxx steering knuckles because of the different size of the bearings the revo/t-maxx 3.3 knuckles use. has anybody tried to use the 3.3 maxx/revo knuckles on his maxx? do the revo knuckles fit into the unlimited/rpm a-arms? so to sum it up: ue diff cups can only be used with the ue cvds because of the different size of the 7.5er cups in comparison with the original traxxas cups? MIP Cvds front/rear do _not_ fit into UE Cups? i didn´t know that. you see, the problem i have is the following: i never used something different than unlimited with my maxxes so i do not know if mip cvds for example will fit into the ue cups for example. the only mip cvds i ever used where center cvds with original emaxx lenght and these _fit_ into the ue cups. Marc. |
i have 3.3 sized arms on my maxx with hb diff cups (similar to ue's i think) and revo 3.3 hubs and 3.3 mip cvds and everything works great. the only thing i am not sure about is the mips fitting with the ues but they might becuase the 2.5 ones fit and the cups are similar 1/8 scale cups.

My flm Emaxx is running UE diffs and drive cups in hybrids with MIP cvds.
They fit just like you suspected. |
