Benchmade makes some of the best knives commercially available...sweet.

I personally would like to get myself a CNC machine for Christmas...anybody have any recommendations? I am not sure what brand/model is appropriate for small applications like we need/use for the RC industry....

I would get a manual mill with a rotery table instead of a cnc unless you are cranking out a lot of parts, cnc takes a while to learn. A cnc would definately be a sweet gift though. I am sure Mike could help you pick out a mill.

My guess is that learning the software and design side of it would be the hardest part...but then again I have no idea. I wonder what brand/model of CNC machine Mike uses?

Cool, I like dogs...I gotta Greyhound...actually its an Italian Greyhound (fancy name for Miniature Greyhound).

My thoughts are the same.. my puppy and I are wanting a manual mill from harbourfreight for Christmas. We already got ourselves a lathe.... now we need a mill :party:

Yeah I was going to suggest Harbor Freight:diablo:. They usually have fairly decent milling machines and tables available, and even if they are not the best on the market they are great for anyone who wants to try out there virgin skills without breaking the bank. Anyway they are perfect for just making little stuff for the RC junkie plus you can be pretty creative making your own stuff. Also if you come up with a really useful part you might end up showing it on here and find that there is a market for selling your ideas. Good luck with that SSSPconcepts.:lol:

Anyway for Xmas I have been checking out the XTM MMT by Global Hobbies. For the money I think I may have to try one of them out. It is big, but very well built and nimble for its size, and I will work on converting it to an electric Monster. I have already given my wife and family copies of several items off the internet that I want/need:whistle:. The Quark 125B, the MGM 160 amp ESC, 4.5 HV Maxx system, some Fuiego and Neu motors, and a slew of UE and FLM parts to help with my collection of 4 Maxx trucks. So we will see what shows up on Christmas day:party:.

I am working on having a collection of cool trucks to race and for the family to bash on Holidays at our place in NC when we retire. I have plans on building a backyard track for something to do in my retirement days. Hopefully in 2012, Not soon enough of course, but there are plenty of Christmases between now and then:lol:.

I want a Revo roller for conversion, a dark impact for racing at the little track (2 hours away) tires for my XXXT and a couple for Neu motors. A cellshield liposaver and another CC BEC, a few 11.1v lipo packs for reciever batteries on the nitro cars and the MMM's for when I can convert them all. Would be nice if the z9100s servo I ordered over a month ago would show up...

I am looking to get my dad a welder. Any suggestions? My brother some camera stuff like lenses, etc. and i have no idea what to get for the rest of my family. :lol: Still thinking.

But for me... :smile: I am mainly hoping for some money, because nobody else in my family knows anything about rc cars, except for my brother, but he just got out of rc's. However, I'll definitely finish my Revo with this money and buy it a Neu 1515/1y, Hitec HS-5955TG servo, RCM hybrid diff cases and probably a lot mroe stuff.

jnev, you propable should list some of the stuff he will use the welder for, so we could help you chose something to fit the application.

1/16" to 1/4" mild steel seems to be the most common building material. If this is the primary thing to be welded you'll want a mig (wire fed welder).

1/4" to 1/2" you'll want a stick welder.

1/16 and down or super nice quality welds (1/16 to 1/4") you'll want a tig (heli-arc). But they are expensive!!!

I would recomend a Lincoln or Miller welder, mig-tig-or stick.

If you get an economy mig welder just make sure you get a "gas kit" for it as the flux coated wire SUCKS!

I should have put a $3600 Miller Syncrowave 250DX on my wish list, hehehe.

Good Name Brand Quality Cobalt is about the best you're going to get. Even they are not unbreakable, but they are made of some really hard stuff. They are alot harder/more durable than the cheaper titanium. You will find there is some really hard material that's almost impossible to drill, like motor shaft material. These should hold up really well for almost everything else.

For the thread:

I would like to see our troops come home. If only those who are raised after generations of fighting would realize there is a better way.

I would like to see Gas get back down to a reasonable $1 a gallon. I think our government needs to see how much hardship current gas prices are putting on Americans, especially compared to "minimum wage".

I know this is asking alot, so I think instead I'll just settle for a Chevy Volt. A plug in Hybrid that will go 40 miles without a drop of gas.
