Dual HV's or something else
 

Hello Guys,

I'm getting ready to purchase another brushless, currently I'm running an HVmaxx on 14 gp33's. Would I gain much from buying another HV and running each on 7 cells or would another brushless system be better altogether? Runtime and higher speed are what I'm trying to achieve. I guess speed would outway runtime.

I tried the daul hv maxx setup. It did okay. I had it wired up with 12 cells each. I tried it with 4 packs and 2 packs. It did okay. I was more impressed with the 7xl power and speed. It went faster and ahd more power than the 2 hv maxx. In my opinion what you are going to spend in another hv maxx you can get more power out of another system. Just my opinion though.

If that were my HV Maxx system, I would sell it and get a sensorless system that could provide much more power. If you did that, you wouldn't be spending that much money on a new system. Let's say you could get $220 for your HV Maxx system. You could buy a Feigao 9L ($80) and Warrior 9920 ($200) for $280 total. You only spend $60, compared with ~$280 for another HV Maxx. But then you get just as good performance with a 9L/9920 as dual HV setup. Saving the extra weight would be good too. So, get the 9L/9920!

I wanted opinions.That's exactly why I asked.:D I don't mind spending another $300, maybe more. I don't want to it end up mediocore. I can sell the HV for for 150 maybe 200, around there someplace. If I do that and then add $300 I should have some decent cash to purchase a better setup.

Now if I can collect a few more opinions I'll have a better idea of what I'm looking for.

You right metal man. If you don't get a little more out the 9l. I ran it. My brothers 8l did better than the two hv.

Well if you don't wind spending money, open up the big Lehner motor category, plenty of power to spare there

Are they more powerful then the others? I mean it's a $70 dollar or so difference. That's not THAT much difference that I would cross it off the list. There are so many choices and all the numbers confuse me:C:

The big lehner fun starts with the 2240.. those are a bit more expensive.. Though the 7XL is a very good motor allready..

I was checking out the 2240 and the 2230 as well.
Serum do you know the site for info on this motors.
I like to check out some specs on them. Or any one else have a site.

i would personally perfer a lehner over a feigao anyday. especially if you want speed. i would go with the xl3600/warrior 9920 setup. if you were to run 14 cells i would go with a 2800 or 3100 because the 3600 would run kinda hot. lehner is gonna give you more torque and efficiency. i think its worth the extra money. (obviously, because i had to wait to save up another 75 bucks to get the lehner over the 9L)

And if you're worried about the xl's 1/8th shafts, they do make 4mm shafts if you order directly from BK I believe.

You could go buck wild and have Mike get you a Lehner 2230 or 2240 motor and a BK 3695 controller.

You don't need the 22 series motor, either. The 1940 or 1950 series are both PLENTY of motor, and will run cooler than the Feigaos or basicxl motors due to their segmented magnets (ideal for less than full throttle currents like used in r/c land applications). These come standard with a 4mm shaft. i plan on getting some 4mm bore pinions made soon as well, as these high end motors seem to be catching on.

Mike, Would the warrior 9920 be a good choice for either of those motors? Do I get a TRADE IN on my HVMAXX? :p

The warrior will work fine, depending on the motor, gearing and cell count, of course. The 9920 warriors are pretty tough controllers. I use a 12018 on my 1940/8 turn, but the warrior would easily handle it.
