looking to go brushless
i am look ing to get a brushless setup on my emaxx. just wondering what would be the best setup to get. i want to blow by the nitro guys in my area..

There are lots of options. How much do you want to spend? What kind of voltage will you use and have you already done the upgrades needed to withstand a BL motor?
|
im not ready to go lipo yet. want to spend around 300 for a setup. i have two sets of 4500, 8.4v batteries ready for now. until i am ready for lipos. i have cvds all around & working on the difs.

don't forget to work on the tranny.... :)
a 7XL/8XL on 12 Cells and MM ESC is usually a pretty good start... |
The center CVD's (drive shafts) went out on mine fairly quickly (8XL, 12020 - 12 cells) and I haven't had problems with the stock diffs....yet. A steel idler gear would be nice as well. As far as $300 range. 8XL is a great start, the controller is a tough one. MGM's are out of that budget range. There are folks who can make much better recommendations on that one.
A few other things you will need are 3 high amp gold plugs, possibly a UBEC/radio battery pack depending on the controller, plugs (Dean's preferable). Soldering iron and wire. So factor those into your budget. |
Novak HV-MAXX will be in your budget. You are limited to the max of 14 cells, unlike a non-sensored controller like Mike sales. the 6.5 will hit 40 mph from what I hear with 16.8 volts. You can also use stock traxxas pinion gears. That is another expense, pinion gears. The new 4.5 is faster I hear, but you will need really good batteries and they tend to get hotter.
