Motor "popped"

Hello,

i've got a 9L which...well...popped on me. At first I didn't realize it but then it skewed which must have caused the motor shaft to put extra pressure on the bearings b/c it was like driving with serious brakes on. I finished the heat but now the motor rattles horrible and the can pops open every time I try using it.

I was thinking, if I replace the bearings AND use one of those super cool heat sync/holder things will that keep the motor together an useable?

How tight should I make it?

Thanks guys.

If the motor popped open, it's possible the winds are damaged now.

It popped, I cleaned it, re-oiled and put it back together using loctie on the end, ran it and it ran like a champ. Then, almost at the end of the race it popped again (just a little) but enough to wear the heck out of the bearing. I just removed it and its as gritty as I've ever felt. I'm not sure what size the bearings are, they are 5MM hole but taller than any I've seen before. I'm almost sure the motor will run perfect when I put it back together with new bearings, I just wonder if that heat sync will prevent this from happening again (and with my new motor too).

With the Heatsink from Mike you will never have to worry about popping endbells again. It's 100% save. And I'm sure Mike can also provide you a bearing.

The bearings are 5x11x5mm if you need to replace them Once the cans pop, they tend to keep popping. The heatsink will cure this for sure. As dafni said, the popping can sometimes cause the rotor to damage a winding on its way out. I wouldn't run it without some security, or you risk doing permanent damage.
