reversing motor position with Gmaxx motor mount?
hi guys, me again :lol:
just wondering what advantages there are of reversing the motor with the gmaxx chassis, ie. hanging over the rear plate, and do changes have to be made to the channels or something to make the car move in the right direction due to the reversal of the motor? an example of what i mean: http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...p?i=2204&c=193 thanks again jordan |
with the motor facing to the rear you dont have to flip the diffs, which you really dont have to do , you can change motor direction by switching two wires
the novak systems require the truck to either have the motor in the rear or flip the diffs |
I actually did not like the older gmaxx reversed motor mount. It made changing the spur gear a nightmare. I personally would recomend jut jeaving it in the stock position or use the new gmax motor plate.

With the stock type mount, correct. I have the X-brace motor mount, and it does indeed make changing the spur a nightmare, but with the single speed conversion all I have to do is unbolt the tranny, undo the front drivecup from the tranny output shaft, and the whole tranny slides forward enough to change the spur gear.... no hassle at all, lol. Plus the mount flexes rather alot with the motor mounted at the highest point in the middle- i am working on a bracing system that should fix that issue hopefully.

There is a beautifully simple solution to that- just flip the entire tranny around 180*. You will ofcourse have to flip the diffs too, but that way the motor wires can be shortened rather dramatically for a cleaner look.
