My new Axial AX-10
Here's a couple of pics of my new Axial AX-10 at a comp here in Utah.
It is mostly stock. Running a DX2, Mamba Max, Axiom 55T, BEC, 3s li-po. It's all waterproofed for the winter. Good times. That body is my first paint job. Turned out okay I guess. Much thanks to jrh for great prices and excellent customer service! http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...08423Large.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...08431Large.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...08406Large.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...08369Large.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...08322Large.jpg |
nice, man... looks great!! yep, JRH is the man for this stuff. i have another order to place from him soon.
so how is crawling in the snow? isn't the snow really slippery? i've tried mountain biking in snow, and it has zero traction. that looks interesting - i may have to take the Stealth out and try that this winter. |
Yeah, the snow is pretty slippery. The 3s lipo and wheelspeed help a lot with that. It's light enough that it tends to float on top of some of the snow.
I was just using my stock Axial tires, but the guys with Mashers did well in the snow because the tread pattern sloughed the snow off pretty well. |
Very nice. I also run an AX-10 but there are no comps here in Germany(within reasonable driving distance anyway). How did it do against the other rigs?
|
Actually a lot of the rigs I compete against are based on the AX-10. Many of them use the AX-10 axles with a tube chassis.
My truck performed pretty well. It could really use a new driver though, because I'm not very good. |
looks like you did alot of snow crawling:mdr:. nice rig what are you running? i got a novak goat crawer system for mine an some 2cell lipos but still waiting on the truck.

Have you broken anything so far? So far I've broken a steering knuckle, output shaft on the tranny, and I keep popping the rear driveshaft off.
|
I haven't broken anything yet, but I haven't had it very long.
The driveshafts are becoming famous for popping off. Fortunately, Axial just came out with a fix for that problem. They're little rings that slip over the end of the driveshaft. There is a company that makes strong steering knuckles also. I think it's RC4WD. |
Yeah I got the machined knuckles from rc4wd. I got the angled links on the way. I run 10wt oil in all 4 shocks with stock springs in the rear and some soft springs off a duratrax evader in the front. I think I'm going to get a set of punisher shafts or just switch to pede shafts. Also thinking about attempting to add some dig. Right now I use 4WS because its just a basher.
