Can this be done????

Hello Everyone,

New to this forum!! I have a project under way and I need some help!!!

I am setting up a brushless IGT which runs on a Kyosho 7.5 buggy chassis. I want to go 6S on the car and I have a Quark 125. I have read throughout the forum that the Quark is iffy on 6S. I plan on running a Mega Car8+ which is about 1400kv or so. I would like to also run it with mech brakes. Now, ideally, I wanted to run something like a CC HV110. I know the boat guys have done this using a Pistix adapter for pistol radios to work with airplane ESC's, but they don't use brakes!!

SOOO, would I be able to run a CC HV110 with a Pistix adapter AND still have mechanical brakes?? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Luis

Yes, just install a servo y harness between the receiver and the pixstic and run the brake servo off the other end of the y harness.

Or a 3 channel Rx/Tx with the 3rd channel being the brake servo. Thats how I do it.

I thought about this, but then you don't have proportional brake. It's either all or nothing!!

Some people have reported no issues with the Quark on 6s, while others do. IIRC, the people with no problems either run mechanical brakes and/or add a couple of capacitors to the input battery leads close to the ESC case.

Thanks for the input guys!!

Thanks Brian. I will try it out. My goal for the car will probrably push me beyond 6S, but only if needed.

You will if your radio has channel mixing, just tie the third channel to the throttle channel and you are good to go.

I've used my quark on 6s a few times. It just worked normally, no issues at all. The first 2 times I used it were in my e-maxx geared for ~50mph on grass. I haven't done any mods to it, and I don't use mechanical brakes. I wasn't slamming the brakes on all the time though.
How fast are you trying to go? What sort of driving are you going to do?

I am setting this up on a Inferno GT, which is the on-road version of the buggy. This is mainly for bashing, but I would like to be able to push the 70-80 mph range when I want to by switching to bigger voltage. That is why I know I might get into 7 or 8S in the future to get those speeds which is why the CC Pheonix HV controllers look so promising. Nick Case set the record using the CC HV, but only to go forward:whistle:

I am going to try the Quark and see if I get what I want. If it works, great!! If not, then the CC HV will be my next step!
