Insides of a KB 45 xl motor

Not sure if anyone cares, but this is what one of these beasts looks like apart. The feigao motor behind the rotor is a 15l. The front end bell unscrews, quite easily on this one.

Looks a lot like the internals of a Feigao motor (non slotted stator)...

Very similar Brian, I would say that the build quality is very similar too. I do like the threadded endbell, should help it to stay together.

mine has came apart a couple of times on the shaft side. last time i used thread lock then soldered a small spot, then covered the seam with ca glue. its been holding since then, but i'm expecting it to come loose again. i would have done something better, but i was in the mood to bash, not wrench. its not coming apart from unscrewing either, it popped over a few threads which then allows it to move depending on accellerating or breaking.

Sounds like a 'Jumbo deluxe' sized RCM heatsink-clamp is in order...

tashpop 01.05.2008 10:29 PM

that would be nice. i would be happy just to locate a heatsink for it.

I've heard of the KB-45 motors being easy to take apart... My isn't so easy. In fact, I couldn't unscrew the front endbell at all, with the use of a rubber strap wrench and an adapter plate that basically stuck the front endbell to the vice.

That rotor is big, though!

What is that for a dent on th rotor? can it be that that's a cover for the actual rotor?

tashpop 01.06.2008 10:58 AM

i don't remember mine having a cover over the rotor.

If it's not a cover, it looks like on magnet and not sectioned.
