10amp power supply enough?

is a 10 amp supply enough for a 10 amp charger? I have a power supply from a superbrain 977 and i want to run a hyperion 0610i 6s 10amp charger

it will work but you will only be able to charge up to a 3s pack at 10amps with that ps. For 4s-6s you will have to charge at a lower rate because the ps wont supply enough watts.

This question is exactly why this page was made.

But, gixxer is correct; that will be good for only 3s or less. A 10A PS will only provide around 120 watts of power to the charger (12v X 10A)... only IF the voltage stays at 12v at that load. And then, about 25% of that will go away as charger efficiency losses, so you really have only about 100W to go to the batteries. At 10A charge rate, that is only 10V, which is not even enough for 3s (3s maxes out at 12.6v).

Thanks BrianG- i didn't realize that was there, you do nice work.

I have found that the chargers (swallow 2 and bc6) will reduce the amps automatically to keep the voltage up when the input power isn't enough. This is when using the internal ac/dc adapter though.

I find that running a P/Sat max rating shortens it's life. I like to stay 80% or less then the rating.
