tire balancers

What tire balancer would you guys recommend for mt and 1/8 scale tires?

An old axle carrier and axle. Just hold the carrier in you hand and spin the tire. No need to go and buy a balancer, this would work just fine.

I use the Top Flite Power Point Balancer that retails for about $20 and I absolutely love it. It's great for any wheel I've had to balance including touring car, 1/10th buggies and trucks, and of course 1/8th buggies. I believe it's also wide enough to balance truggy tires.

The magnetic method is by far the most accurate in inexpensive balancers. My tires spin like a dream after I balance them on it.

Later!

What are you guys using for balancing weight?

I use lead tape. It's basically the dimensions of scotch tape but instead of being a plastic it's actually lead. It's extremely easy and convenient to balance with and you can be extremely accurate with it.

I actually have a gigantic roll if you have any difficulty finding some.

Sounds cool, I've never seen that before. I haven't picked tires out for my RC8 yet, but when I do, I'll be balancing the tire/wheel set up.

Thanks for the tip!

I really need to balance the wheels on my mini-t. I'm sure it would run a lot better.

Does it vibrate like crazy at high rpms? if so, absolutely! Not only does it keep your car driving smoother but it lengthens the life of your car by drastically reducing vibration.

I use lead tape to balance my tires, available at golf shops.

High RPM, It jumps around even at low rpm. Golf shops, thanks bdebde.

Golf shops may or may not have it.. but definitely try them first. I've called golf shops around my area all day long and for some reason they don't use the tape around here :( They use heavier blocks of lead to add "swing weight" while this tape is more for balancing. Tennis players often use this tape to balance their rackets.. so maybe try some kind of tennis place if the golf doesn't work out. If you can't find any let me know.
