The best solution I can recommend is this...
ST Racing 14mm hub adapters: http://www.teamstrc.com/ebproductdet...mainid=1&id=44 RPM Stablemaxx Wheels: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...maxx&search=Go and Panther Komodo Tires: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=PTT140ms |
if i decide to run with the maxx size tires what kind of gearing would i run to keep it running cool and around 70mph????how bad would the balloning of the tire be?????
|
I would drop the gearing to around what the stock VXL stampede uses as a starting point. From there, the temp of the motor/ESC will be the biggest clue as to how to change your gearing. The Komodo tires shouldn't balloon much at all...should be even less than stock VXL Stampede tires would balloon.

i have a brand new set of http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHGE7&P=7 and http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHGB6&P=M i was going to put on my emaxx but they look good sittin on rustler.....are these a okay choice for the speed i want to run?????????

as for performance, i dion't think it'll be that gears becouse the maxx tires are so big and all. Thare will be a LOT more rotating mass that the motor will haft to deal with. i really dought it'll run more than 60 unless it's gear inproperly. then agian my maxx tires are real old and the newer tires mite be a little lighter(alltho i dought it)!
But, thare's only one way to find out! |

i just got some grp truggy tires for my emaxx. they are handleing the the balloning problems i was having really well, although i'm not going 70mph. here's a pick. i got them premounted on 17mm rims so you'll need to use 17mm adapters. integy makes a set and they're for sale everywhere. i think you'll get ballooning problems with pretty much any mt tire/wheel combo. you need to look into the truggy tires which are lighter, narrower, some have built in ribs, and have less sidwall to stretch out.

Truggy tires would be the way to go IMO if you are set on running something that big. They are about the same height but narrower and lighter which will help you with both speed and minimizing the load on your drivetrain.
I tried MT tires on my rustler once and that only lasted 10 minutes before I removed them. They make the rustler handle really bad and also made it lift the front end more then usual due to the larger heavier rear wheels. |
