What kind of shocks E maxx

I just got done snapping 2 diffrent kinds of shocks first was the factory maxx shock and then some after market thredded one. I bash hard and would like some input on a good strong shock that I can adjust the ride height and replace parts that give out..

Powerstrokes.

Or some type of 1/8 scale shocks. I plan to use 8 Ofna rear shocks (UE Supershocks) for my MGT.

I had powerstrokes on my maxx when I had it. They were awesome if you can find them. Highly recomended!

they don't work anymore squee; they are pretty worthless here, since the topicstarter has another request; 'replace parts that give out'

too bad there are NO parts available anymore for powerstrokes and they are getting rare. I have a set, i don't use them anymore; you need to invest quite some time to get a suspension setup to be perfect, once the powerstrokes are damaged, ít will cost you a headache to find replacement parts. IF you are able to find at all.

They are awesome shocks, don't get me wrong, but due to the lame support/attitude of proline i don't advice them to anyone. (sent them two emails with questions about replacement parts, and they don't bother to reply)

You are better off with a set of the traxxas big-bores. easier to get/find replacements for, and they are tough as nails.

So I would advice you to use either traxxas big-bore shocks or ofna/UE shocks.

I have used OE shocks, BigBores, PowerStrokes and UE SuperShocks(1/8 Onfa). The 1/8 scale UE or Onfa's shocks are by far the toughest. If you have seen my vids I drive like crap and jump 30foot levees. So far only the 1/8 shocks are holding up.

Did you see the new ones Mkrusedc? they use a fat 16mm piston instead of a 13. their OD is 24mm ! talk about fat shocks :)

No I haven't. Those would be nice, but I might have to take a dremel to my PRM arm to fit them:lol:

Serum 01.27.2008 06:08 PM

Yeah, that's a catch.

Flextek arms would fit though... :)

Serum, I would hardly say there worthless. Actually a used set goes for as much a I bought a new set for that came with MIP cvd's and Lunsford turnbuckles. Parts aren't that hard to find and you shouldn't really need anything for them. There pretty damn strong. I've actually been looking for a set at a decent price.

do you run 4 or 8 shocks when use 1/8 ofna shocks

mkrusedc 01.27.2008 09:15 PM

4 UE SuperShocks with the black springs in the rear and the blue springs in the front. I just ran that with a FLM extended chassis and almost could not flip it. The stability was incredible. This what it looks like but with the white springs.

I think i will go with ofna shocks but do I order the front shocks or the rear??? I ask because I have no exp with them at all.

mkrusedc 01.28.2008 11:45 PM

I think the fronts are the right size. Somebody correct me if i am wrong.

bluonyx 01.29.2008 02:17 AM

Hey guys I just placed the order from Mike for some FLM Shock towers and the LST Shock Conversion. I should have it by the end of the week and will post pics when done. It looks like I'm going to have to mod the upper arms a little to make them fit.
