Hacker Maxx Build

Ok, so I have pieced together a new Emaxx. Got the diffs, center chassis, tranny and steering from Sike (thanks buddy!). I had the front and rear suspension sets hanging around. Found some traxxas wheels and bowtie tires in the parts box. Had to buy a few things, mainly a pair of steering servos. I went with a pair of futaba 3050 servos. At 6.3v from the cc bec they are super strong and fast.

Motor choice is a Hacker C50 15l? with a quark 125b. I put the question mark behind the motor as I am not sure that it really is a 15l, but it must be close to the 1600kv rating. Power comes from a pair of 2200 20c 5s lipos from UH.

Gave it a trial run with 20/48 gearing (mod1) tonight. Wow, at around 30mph full throttle results in killer wheelies. I ran it hard for about 15mins, and think that slightly lower gearing would be good. It is too fast, maybe 45 mph, so I figure 20/52 would be ideal. This motor has alot of power. Kind of like a feigao 7xl that spins up faster. The slipper is getting a workout! Without the wheely bar it will do a back flip from a stand still, and land on the tires. I have to say that this is the most violent rc I own at the moment, great fun.

I can definately say that the hacker motor is much more powerful than the feigao equivalent. Can you believe that i have a 13l on 5s in my LS10! That truck is geared for about 50mph and even then it does not really load the motor. I have an older emaxx with a feigao 15l that I run on 5s thru a 9920. It is only 2wd and does not have anywhere near the power of this setup. I can only imagine what a hacker c50 xl motor can do. Guess it is time to search one out!

Pics will be put up tomorrow as the camera is out of reach!

Yea, the hacker motors are crazy. I only have the little C40 motors and they are mean little suckers on 5s and 6s A123.

lincpimp 01.30.2008 12:09 AM

What do you run the c40 motors in?

sikeston34m 01.30.2008 12:43 AM

Wow Linc! Yes Pictures please!

Ladies and Gentlemen. Can we please take up a collection for Linc a Video Camera? He spent all his money on RC.

snellemin 01.30.2008 12:49 AM

I run them in my all purpose rustler. Soon I'll stick them in my prostock dragsters. I run the 12T 3500kv and 8L 3750kv hackers.

Sounds like a great project. And pictures are definitely a must. I also sent you a PM about some Hacker motors btw. Hopefully they are what you are looking for...

If I had a vid camera I would shoot some footage of all of my rc stuff. I think everyone would really wonder about me then. To put it another way, I put all of my various brushless motors in a box. It weighs about 10 lbs now. I also have a 600 sq/ft room dedicated to rc.

Pics will be up tomorrow, looks just like a new emaxx with a purple finned motor and a quark 125. Now my use of a lsp body may be a first? I picked up a few of those bodies for 12 bucks a piece, so they will be on alot of my trucks.

It is funny, I own an auto paint and body shop and I have custom painted dozens of cars. And I do not care about painting rc bodies. I even try to buy prepainted bodies if the price is right. Kind of funny and ironic!

lincpimp 01.30.2008 01:03 AM

Snellemin, the rustler looks good, and I am sure those c40 motors kick azz too! They look like the best size (power to weight) motor for a lighter 2wd vehicle.

sikeston34m 01.30.2008 01:11 AM

Ummmm...........Where did you get the 48 tooth Mod 1 spur?

lincpimp 01.30.2008 01:22 AM

Hey Sike, figured you might ask that question.

Here is the selection of MGT spur gears: Mod1 spurs

All you have to do is slightly drill out the center hole to fit the traxxas slipper bearing, and drill out 3 of the small holes to fit over the bolt bosses on the slipper hub. It is wise to use small washers on the 3 allen head screws that hold the gear on. I will snap a pic of the gear when I swap the 52t in.

I have given up on 32p for the larger vehicles, mod1 is so much more forgiving than 32p.

Thanks for the info!

I'm with you on the 32p gears. I've ran several packs through this E maxx with the mod 1 gears. Running hard, and they show NO WEAR.

If these were 32p gears, no telling what they would look like.

I've never had any luck pushing any kind of real power level through 32p gears.

lincpimp 01.30.2008 02:09 AM

32p is good for pedes and other 2wd trucks.

That is about it.

I really want to go back to the shop and play with the emaxx! I will charge the lipos again and see how much they take. I ran it for about 15mins and it did not seem to be losing voltage at all.

I wanted to play with my E maxx today, but we had some major storms moving through the area. Big winds too. It blew a couple of Semi trucks off the interstate. Big Nasty wreck close to town that blocked both the South bound lanes. They were rerouting traffic and had things backed up for miles. A little chaotic there for awhile.

You like those 2200 packs don't ya? Hmmmmm.......4400mah 20C at 5S. That should give you about 20 to 25 minutes hard runtime I would think. I'm sure that Hacker is a hungry feller though.

What's your motor temp looking like?

sikeston34m 01.30.2008 02:20 AM

That Lipo setup should be good for 88 amps continous. That's some pretty good power actually.

lincpimp 01.30.2008 02:37 AM

These packs are looking good, cost 100 bucks for the pair. The hacker was running a little warm for my tastes, but the body did not have any cooling holes, and the gearing was a bit much, in my opinion. I have trimmed the body and will lower the gearing and give it a good run tomorrow.
