Hv Mbx5t?
a buddy of mine is selling a few of his rcs, to put a truggy together. he comes to me for advice, cause he's fairly new to electric, and this is the setup i've chosen for him.. let me know how it looks.. anything to do differently?
MBX-5T roller w/ bce chassis - he traded a 30gb ipod.. Neu 1521/1.5y - looking for one.. found this REALLY cheap, but only option is w/ the gearbox.. http://www.flydma.com/catalog/produc...roducts_id=149 2x NeuEnergy 4s1p 3200mah in series for 8s1p - http://www.flydma.com/catalog/produc...roducts_id=171 OEMRC 12s 100a controller - http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDH...idProduct=4691 revo motor mount - http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=RCMrevomount castle bec - http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=castlebec i think that's it. he's got a 150oz servo for steering, which will eventually get upgraded, and will be running mechanical brakes as well. hoping to be capable of ~70mph, should the need arise.. hes got a mrc 989 charger, that'll do 8s, but doesn't have a way to balance the packs together.. what are the options for charging both packs in series, and keeping them balanced together? here's a pic of the truck, (got it rolling chassis, no motor/radio/ect.) http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...als/Mugen1.jpg |
I saw the deal on the Neu motors yesterday, by the time you pay the extra $ for the gearbox, it ends up about the same (no real deal unless you need the gearbox).
That motor may be more than you need, a 1515 on 6s propels my 12 lb. truck at incredible speed. Sounds good for a very powerful set up! For balancing, you will need link-able balancers (2). I think the lba balancers and IIRC flightpowers. |
Why are you looking for 70?! It is a truggy and won't really need to ever go about 40. To gear for 70 you will compromise lower speed and not sure what tires will take it.
Any reason for not using the mugen mount? I second that those Nues become expensive when you add the mandatory extra gearbox... mike does a good deal... |
bdebde, yeah a 1515 on 5s in my truck's good for 50mph, my friend wants the ability to beat any other truck.. doesn't mean he'll abuse the power. and toned down, that setup should be rock solid performance wise.. w/ no worries of pushing anything too hard.
arct1k, i know mike's got good prices, but out of stock atm. i'll pm him when my buddy gets the cash. 70 for fun. a 25t pinion should be close, but 18t or 20t will be what's normally run. we're using mechanical brakes, so the revo mount's the safe bet. i saw a thread pop up recently, about the brake mount holes being off on one of mike's mounts. $5 more for the revo mount, and that concern is gone. |
