E-maxx Outrunner (Direct Drive)
 

My bro has made the decision to go direct drive by using an outrunner. I convinced him to do ths because their is alot of advantages. Some are efficiency, less heat issues, alot more torque, great top end while using direct drive... You guys might not think that this will do but I know it'll work great. The 50-55 600kv is crazy powerful in my heavy 12lb warhead. I got to use it once then the revo drivelines caved in. I went back to stock dog bones. The tires he's using are warhead tires/rims and his diff ratio is 2.85. He also has new MIP CVD's in all the arms so that should add some good strength to the truck. He will be using revo center drivelines to hold up to the outrunners torque. Ill let you guys know when updates have been finished.

The stator on that motor is 35mm x 20mm. It's too small man.

It doesn't stand a chance pulling a 2.85:1 gear ratio.:whistle:

Hmmm.... Im pretty sure it'll be fine. It has the power equivalence to the E-flite power 32 which is a very powerful motor and many people were reccomending it to me for my warhead and said it'll work fine. I decided to go for more power though just incase.

If you want to save yourself some $$$, I'd listen, you're talking to the man himself!

Thats what Im all about... I like taking risk's because it teaches me the mistakes and not to repeat them in the future. The real problem with going outrunner with the e-maxx is that the outrunner he ends up buying has to be a narrow 42mm diameter or thinner or it rubbs against the chassis support bars. Any ideas?

Ideas? Stick with the center tranny and use the outrunner on the input shaft. Not sure if that wind will be the best, I can;t be bothered to input the values into brian's calc. Plus you did not say which emaxx you are using.

And my wife's friend wants some "attention". Listen to Sike, he has some idea what he istaking about.

Thats the problem. He doesnt want to use the tranny. Ill see what mods I can do on it to fit a bigger motor.

You guys think that'll power it? I currently have one and was going to use it in my warhead but now I want to get a bigger motor seeing you guys dont trust the setup.
