Eagle tree logger problems

I can get data from the recorder. I save it, it shows data. I try to reload the file and it shows no data, although the file in fact does have information. What am I missing here? I have tried many ways and multiple times of retrieving old data logs from my new logger, but when I download them originally is the only time I can see the data. I have to be making some simple mistake.

I'm not looking at the program now, but isnt there a setting somewhere in it that basically says it will automatically delete the data on the recorder unit after its downloaded. I think this is an option that can be turned on and off. Your may be set to on.

Again I'm going from memory and its been a while. I could be wrong but I seem to remember something about this.

Sounds to me like you are opening a file you allready downloaded to your computer.

Is it possible that the eagletree split up the file to more than 1 session? You can choose between the sessions.

I am opening a file that is on my computer. One session, and I have the proggy set to keep the file on my logger after download.

When I go back to reopen the file from my HD it shows zero data, like the file is empty.

I've just bought one, I hope this is not the sign of a bug of some kind. Does ET have any kind of support?

johnrobholmes 02.03.2008 06:13 PM

They have great support, I just haven't emailed them yet.

johnrobholmes 02.03.2008 06:15 PM

Mm, my software is out of date. I will update and see if that helps.

johnrobholmes 02.03.2008 06:19 PM

Ok, didn't fix it.

I download data from the recorder.
I select File, Save recorder file
When I select Open Recorder file it comes up with no data.

Is the file itself bigger than 0 bytes?

johnrobholmes 02.03.2008 06:40 PM

Yep. File size is there. Small files are 383KB for just a few minutes with voltage, amperage, etc. Bigger files are 3000kb

can you post the logfile?

This problem seems familiar to me. I use a v1 Eagletree micropower since 1.5 years. When i upgraded my eagletree software to a newer version i couldn't reopen my log files i had saved with the new software version properly. Only zeros were shown. When i looked into the logfile with a texteditor (notepad) it was obvious that the new software version saved the data with additional parameters which i didn't found in my earlier saved logfiles (saved with the older software version). I then tried to reformat those newly saved files to the older format by excluding the new parameters and could now open those files correctly. This was totally absurd since the software could not read it's own saved files, but was able to open my old logs.

The only solution (Quick workaround) i found was to downgrade to my previous version (v4.37) which worked flawlessly. But this might not be an option for you. There is (was) a good support forum on rcg especially for eagletree users administered by Eagletree systems. You also might shoot them a mail.

BTW: i could open Serums logfile.

That File worked Serum. My files are being saved as CDR files, not FDR. I just changed the settings from Car mode to Flight model mode. Seemed to have fixed it. I went in and changed the old CDR files to FDR and suddenly it opened them. Sonofabitch! Time to rename old files, what an easy fix!

Still sounds like a bug too me.
