Question how the Axle Carriers hold up without dust boot retainers

Hi!

At my Revo these rubbersealings at the Pivot Balls got cracked, now I think about if they are really necessary because they are a bit expensive.
How do the Axle Carriers hold up without these...

I closed this and also the Gap at the RX8's...

I closed this and also the Gap at the RX8's Heatsink with PlastiDip.
When driving in the dirt i think this is essential because the Gap in the Motor leads directly to the Rotor.
