I asked same thing from my local dealer and they told that for now they replaced allmost all faulty gears by free who came with that problem to our dealer. And i asked one guy who is driving XRay and who mentioned problems with gears before, for now he dont have any problems, so far so good.
I think no reason to worry, new XT8 come with properly hardened gears :D
