That was my first impression too. Maybe some electronic component of the schulze went bad after the last impacts and this caused a short.
The owner himself thinks that maybe the foam on which the esc was installed ignited spontaneously due to the very hot schulze ... but i don't think so.
On his previous runs he had some heat related issues with his schulze. It thermaled but never caught fire or smoked (obviously).
Oh Well ... i think this can only be sorted out by schulze. But personaly i wouldn't send this controller back to Schulze. They for sure would see an error made by the user and offer a small discount when buying another schulze. I would rather invest my money in another ESC (Monster Pro, Jazz 80 ...).
