I don't have another spektrum micro, but had the stock nomadio receiver which also gave me issues.

No metal to metal other than the heatsink on the motor can (Mamba can with an aluminum tube around it).

FWIW - I saw many many pics of similar arrangements in the RC18T series from internet searching, figured I'd be fine.....
