There's a ton of info on the CRT.5 down in the truggy section here.
All you have to have from Mike is the motor mount, assuming you can figure out a way to mount your battery and ESC that you like. I used the ofna ext chassis, Mike's motor mount, an old emaxx battery tray, and a cut down stock radio tray for my conversion and it works really well for me. This length doesn't require the bigger tires, but I do run some every now and then (gladiators).
I'll go out on a limb and say most people probably go for more powerful options than the MM motors. The crt.5 is heavier than most people give it credit for.
However, I think the lower KV rated MM motors have been successfully used in the CRT.5. I'd go 4600, but 5700 would probably work too with the right gearing and cell count.
Personally, I chose to go with a 3600kv rated Neu. That gave me the flexibility to use either 2s or 3s depending on gearing etc. You may also consider saving a few bucks and using the Sidewinder esc - its performed like a champ with my Neu.
