So I gave it another run tonight. Stopped about 10mins in to replace the crap stock steering servo saver with a 1/8 scale type of servo saver. I used the HPI kit, as the lhs had it and it was fairly cheap. Big difference, and I am still using the stock steering servo. I have a hitec 5997 to put in, but I wanted to see the difference that the better servo saver design would make.
Had my buddy radar it, 41-43 mph at best. We also built some jumps and beat the truck a bit. Nothing broke, and I would say that I got at least 30 mins of mixed bashing. This is with the polyrc 3600 12c cells, 8 in series. I have a pair of flightpower 3700 25c 4s packs to get from the lhs. That should allow me to gear up to a 16t pinion from the 14t.
Temps were good, batteries and esc were warm, the motor was hot, but not as hot as the last run. I found that the slipper was set too loose, and was letting the motor spin up almost unloaded. I tightened it up, too much actually. I was doing backflips if not careful! I adjusted the slipper a bit and got it where it needed to be.
I do need to install the twin disk brakes, and have the hex at the lhs. I have a single disk at the moment, and it just does not have the power to stop this truck the way I want. I also put a wheely bar on it, a must IMO!
Still need to get some pics, but I may wait until I get the wiring finalized. I am still looking for a cheap bec that can handle 10s lipo. Hobby City have a turnigy bec that looks good, and is 20 bucks. I need some other stuff from them, so I may order a couple to test out.
