Time to hit up the exploded views:

The input shaft of the tranny has 2 little gears on it, both held in place by a small pin that goes through the gear and shaft. That may have sheared and gotten lodged in the gears. If however the problem only exists when the diffs are hooked up to the tranny with drive shafts, its more likely the problem is in one of them. Not suprising really if they are stock traxxas diffs.
