I was aiming at the kid though....

I decided to have some fun and built my own battery tray using 6083 T6 2mm thick aluminum:

















Suprisingly simple really, since the existing battery tray makes a perfect template for all the holes required, then you just design the chassis around that to get the desired length & width etc. I was planning on visting the local blacksmith to get the edges curved upwards like the stock item, but I couldnt be arsed and just added some 3/8" x 3/8" x 1/16" L channel to the egdes. I will add some extra foam padding along the inside edges to cover the exposed nuts. That sounds rude....
