The esc temp wont make you melt hex hubs - make sure you wheel nuts are tight, they can loosen and roost out the hex pretty bad.

I still say gear it down.. I run 6s lipo with a 11XL geared for 35mph on a turnigy HV and my motor and batteries absolutely cook, a 3s lipo must be drawing a lot more current to get the same speed, and the turnigy HV is rated to 100A, just like the mamba.
