Lipo batteries and air travel - 07.08.2008, 09:47 PM

Quick question:

I am getting ready to go on a trip via American Airlines (in case the airline matters) and I am planning to take my FLM Maxx, two 3S 5000 FightPower Lipo batteries, remote, charger, and some tools. All equipment will be neatly packed in a large Pelican case.

According to airline guidelines updated in Jan 2008, each passenger is restricted to two Lipo batteries (8 grams or less equivalent lithium content per battery) in checked baggage as long as the batteries are installed in a device. Both of my batteries will be installed in the FLM Maxx. However, I have no idea if my situation is going to be a problem when I get to the airport.

Does anybody here know if this will be an issue...specifically the Lipo batteries?

I am hoping some of the racers here that frequently travel with their RC cars will be able to help.
