Yeah don't loosen the slipper too much or you burn up pads and melt stuff. I assume you have the metal spur so melting stuff shouldn't be a problem but the pads still burn/melt/fall apart if it is set too lose.
If you want to try something a little different with your diffs get some cen diffs. They are cheap from ebay and they have massive teeth so are less prone to stripping. They also use bigger bearings at the out drives so they don't fall apart as often. They fit perfectly and all you have to do to get them in the savage is swap to the savage out drives and drill out the hole on the out drive for the pin a little. The pinion also requires 1mm of shimming as well I think.
I am about to put the cen diffs in my nitro savage and the out drive and dogbone kit you posted once they show up. The cen diffs are already in my brushless savage but I haven't been able to beat on them yet.
