I use mine with a Futaba 2.4 radio with no issues. I believe his is a spektrum. I really don't think that is the issue. I would bet on the motor being the culprit at this point like others have said. The battery connection isn't an issue b/c if polarity was reversed, it wouldn't arm. The motor wires shouldn't matter, unless they are touching creating a short.
