I had the same thing happen to a 1515 (actually bought it that way for a smoking deal) and sent it back to neu. I had it back in 4-5 days with a new shaft/magnet and they even upgraded the rear endbell to the screw retained type. All for free...

I have to say that it is the best motor I own (next to the pletts) with the best service I can imagine (don't want to think about plett's service)
