It seems like there was a thread about this some time ago where someone wanted to use a large outrunner motor or something.

I have done four bikes (sold two and still have two) and learned that RC stuff is simply overpriced and not really functional for transporting people.

tc3_racer: TNC scooters has DC permanent magnet motors up to 1200-watts. That motor is $90. As well, the Yi-Yun speed controller http://tncscooters.com/product.php?sku=101215 works well with this throttle http://tncscooters.com/product.php?sku=101100 and all you need are SLA (sealed lead acid) batteries, which they also sell.

With an intact mini-bike, you can have all of the parts necessary for conversion for under $150.

BL_RVO: the speed controller you wish to use will not handle the draw of even the 750-watt motor. I found that out the hard way..

In any case, once I got tired of buzzing around my neighborhood park at 25-mph, I got this bike:
