The 1.5d works fine for me in the erevo. You choice of the 2 5000 packs in parallel sounds like a good idea. My truck geared for 43mph pull a set of trakpower lipos hard, and I have a pair of 3700 4s packs to run in parallel. Should help with the amp draw.
