Well, I´m not an expert either, rather a n00b.
But what radio are you running?
Is it me or is your receiver a traxxas?
If your still on the TQ3, which is AM (same as me) then 100 feet is a decent range, or so I was told.
Your symptoms match exactly what I get with the TQ3 on my 9918 at about 100 feet (30m, I think). I blame the short range of my radio.:W:
