Those leads are a bit silly. I usually just remove them and replace with 12gauge wire, but I am more comfortable than most taking apart lipos.

My best suggestion would be to solder a short length of 12 gauge wire to the existing wires, and then solder the traxxas connector to that 12 gauge wire...

1/2 inch or so would do.
