I would go with:

AMD dual core for sure
nVidia graphics card for sure. You don't have to get a nVidia name brand though. There are tons of companies like BFG Tech that make good cards with the nVidia chipset.
And I'd get something like a 7200rpm 1TB HDD. I got mine from GearXS for $100
Also, while your at GearXS, NewEgg, etc. I'd go ahead and look into a sound card. You can get a good one for about $30.
