The way I understand it, your hunches are correct. A stronger magnet will spin slower all other things being even, so to take advantage of the extra power/ torque you can gear up another notch or two; the difference between the original hv4400 motor and the upgraded sintered rotor was quite impressive I found. I still wouldnt recommend exceding 180*f though regardless, as the epoxy coating on the windings will cook/melt even if the rotor doesnt, and thats a recipe for cooked motor & esc.

Depends if you feel you want more power from your hvmaxx setup- more power for the cost of a $30? rotor is pretty good, but if you're happy with how it is, or want something much more powerful, maybe not then..

Feeding the hvmaxx good lipos vastly improves its power though, but I'd guess you're using them already.
