Big Bores on the Ofna Hyper Mini STe (EASY!) - 07.02.2009, 01:33 AM

Well I was playin w/ the STe Mini and broke a shock end and I don't have any to replace with so I was trying to cob something up.. then I saw the thread about big bores on the crt .5 so I snagged my 8ight front shocks and they fit perfect.

I had a spare shock tower offset from my 8ight in my box so I drilled out the hole on the rear STe shock tower every so slightly so I could mount the normal 8ight upper shock mount on it. The top is perfect otherwise no other modding, the bottom does require a touch of plastic to be shaved back to fit the 8ight lower ball in place (razor takes seconds). Faster than I typed this up I had the losi 8ight front shocks installed on the rear of my Mini STe... then I was thinking well hmm what if I have an issue w/ the stockers on the front? (ps I'm starting w/ 35wt oil and silver losi springs, may drop to 25wt if needed).

I had a spare revo shock set and HOLY funny if you pop the balls out of the revo shock (top and bottom) the top slides on the stock offset perfect no mods and even has correct spacing. If you take the stock shock ball from the bottom shock end and put it on the revo's shock end (yes the size is a match) the revo shock installs in .02 seconds.. (jato shock is the same) pretty sweet iMO. I need to get some jato springs but what I did was drill out with my smallest bit the disc holes so they were larger and it seems to have worked great. You still need about a 50wt oil in this shock though to have similar dampening (just guaging by my hands though). Again I don't have any jato springs to play and adjust (yet), but I was just letting everyone know how easy it is to upgrade the shocks.
