Anyways, keep in mind the ins will try to screw you by writing a low est. So make sure you do some research and take a good look at the damage on the car compared to the est they give you. Just my $.02, but I do it for a living...

Huh? Does that vary state to state? To be clear, I would do the same exact thing, pocket the money and do the repair myself. But I was sure you were atleast required to fix your car, and I thought doing it yourself was a no-no. If you were honest with the insurance company they certainly wouldn't give you as much money to do it yourself, but insurance is kinda a scam anyway.
I like Wisconsins insurance law. It is not illegal to drive without insurance, however, it is illegal to get in an accident without insurance. Better look out for the other guy!
