On a direct-drive setup with a centerdiff the torque-steer gets kinda canceled out by the weight of the diff spinning in the opposite direction.
If you have a large heavy rotor I can imagine you may feel a bit of torque twist/steer, but nothing like you described.
On that note, I once had a setup with an idler between diff and motor (i.e. diff and motor spinning in the same direction) and the torque steer was noticeable on straight-line dragracing, or in mid-air.
I guess your issue is indeed setup related. Check all the settings. A slightly bad bearing somewhere might cause the same issue, btw.
