Ahhh, I forgot about the dead sea scrolls, thanks for posting that panda.
So yes, it is not really known full well the history, but it is well known it didn't happen the way the church portrays it. The church must have used this either 'other' Jesus, and exploited him for use, and/or he never existed , and/or there was a Jesus that transcended to "Christ Consciousness", that so many other "Christs" have done supposedly achieved, but personally I think they were man like you and I, but have transcended the material world. There are too many 'coincidences' in each case, and maybe we can achieve this level of evolution; after all, we do only use a small fraction of our brain, and certain drugs have shown us what else are brains are capable of.
But, as it stands right now, we just don't know, once you know enough about history, human nature, war, certain individual's greed, human control over others (governement, whatever you want to call it). Once we achieve a certain level of knowledge (ie. scientific knowledge) and it is allowed to flourish without oppression and control, it won't matter, we will have everything we will ever need and more. Science now, particularly Quantum Physics opens the door to almost joining "Spiritual" aspects and "Material" or "Physics" aspect into one theory of the universe. Only time will tell.
“The modern astrophysical concept that ascribes the sun’s energy to thermonuclear reactions deep in the solar interior is contradicted by nearly every observable aspect of the sun.” —Ralph E. Juergens
