Yeah, that inductor is for the onboard BEC circuit; essentially what it does is filter the BEC PWM circuit to dampen any higher frequency 'noise', or EMI is what it is called. If it doesn't have one, you could get alot of interference fed into the Rx. I doesn't look like it is damaged to a point where is wouldn't work, in fact, I don't think I would even worry about it.
