The only reason to run a spool is too get more wheelies. Your turning will be much worse (one wheel MUST slip for your truck to be able to turn a corner).
I've had two trucks that had spools installed by previous owners, and both of them broke - so IMHO, they are not as reliable as a standard diff. Spend your money on aluminum diff housing and carrier - those alone will give you a 10 fold increase in lifespan on your gears.
