Since this is a 6s ESC, I think the idea is to run high V/low KV so currents are not high, so 13GA is plenty.
LOL right on... I'm old school so back then there was fets for brakes and reverse LOL

Mine was the first version, and I think they did make a change to fix that issue. So, my short beta test helped improve the product... took one for the team
