Creative makes some pretty solid stuff too. I love their sound cards, but that's something else. My brother has some creative speakers and he seems more than happy (they aren't a 5.1, but they were great for the price).

The speakers I replaced with the Z-5500's were actually Altec Lansings. It was a 4.1 system...from 10 years back. 3inch drivers with a downfiring 6inch sub. As long as you didn't turn the volume up too much (sub would start to fade since it wasn't powerful enough), the system produced fantastic sound and the only thing that was going out was my volume knob - after 10 years! (And given, I had left these on overnight many many many times). At lower volume levels there would be a bit of crackle/static but some playing with the computer volume output and the knob and I could get rid of it no problem.

If their speakers now are anything like those speakers, then they are of fantastic quality. Given, those 4.1's did cost 100 bucks back then. I still use them now. They are my 'iPod dock' for my bedroom.
