It really depends.

If he definitely will not upgrade batteries in the future and he is sure he won't get any other vehicles, then get whatever works for the batteries he has now. Makes no sense to get more than he needs.

But, if he even thinks about playing around with batteries or different vehicles, I would suggest getting something a little more future-proof. Always cheaper to buy right once than to end up buying twice.
