Were you using timing in that motor?

Neus repairs are pretty economical – I sent motors in recently and they updated parts for free. Not mingy parts the stator and winding. IME they replace the hard wires with softwires no for no cost.

Alternativley ask Neu about a 1400 series motor in exchange for the repair of the 1500 – the deal is good All the same attributes and lighter again but with a sealed can. I have guys using these in 1/8's and loving blowing the doors off the nitros.

Neu's have a heap of invisible extras that you can access if you set them up (but for off road the 1500s need a cover - air filter foam or similar on endplates).

* same output for less energy use than Chinese motors - especially in the low amp ranges cars spend their time -15-20% extra runtime
* high efficiency down to about 10 amps (cars usually only average 20-30 amps when raced) the chinese motors are 50% or so at those amp levels so thay tend ot run hot
* about 8% more torque
* very high power handling - the Chinese motors are falling away quickly over 80 amps Neus hit the same problems about 150
* for the same size motors the Neus are lighter - better power to weight better acceleration and handling
* the big addition to their value is the extra they get out of the same cells

Set the car up correctly and you can realize all these benefits.

Email me if you like - andrew@fastelectrics.com and I can give you a couple of tips on making the Neu motor work better still for you.

Don’t give the motor away – because the person who gets it will repair it for a little money and blow by you and run longer next weekend
